last spring i was in syria for around 10 days. lately (for obvious reasons) the trip and resulting photos have been on my mind a lot. i have a lot of assad state portraits - even in this photo, if you look closely at the top right billboard, assad looks off frame, contemplating the weight of the world on his shoulders.
